I knew that compasses had magnets in them but i didnt know exactly how it worked. I also didnt know that you can make your own magnets with coils and what not. Also i didnt know that earth acts like a magnet too.
I found that the earth has a giant magnet in it. The magnet in the earth has magnetic poles on the North and South poles of the Earth. I didnt realize that the earth kind of had a giant magnet in it.
I didnt know that the earth has magnetic poles and the distance from the poles. I didnt know what electromagnetics are and how they work. I also didnt know about galvanometers and what they test. I also didnt know elmo had anything to do with science (he is on page 235). I also learned about generators and turbines.
I have found that there are magnets in our telephones and also tvs. There are also magnets in video games and Cd players and your headphones that you use also contain magnets in them. I really did not know that there was magnets in all of those different materials.
Compasses have magnets and so do refrigerators. Making your own magnets seems tough but you could do it. And I didnt know about all of the other things that have magnets in them.
I knew that eletric motors had some type of magnet in them because i knew thats how they worked but i never really saw the inside of it. I also didnt know how a compass worked. So magnets are really cool.
